Consumer Claims RegulationÂ
This Regulation was made in
accordance with statutory rules which require Regulations to be
reviewed and where necessary, re-made every 5 years. As such, the 2007 Regulation replaces
the Consumer Claims Regulation 1999, with minor amendments including to:
increase the limit on
the Tribunal’s jurisdiction to make orders in respect of claims under the Consumer
Claims Act 1998 to $30,000 (increased from the current $25,000)
prescribe that applications are to be made in
accordance with the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal Act 2001
remove
clause 7 of the current Regulation, which prescribes particulars
relating to any list of unsatisfactory suppliers established under section 16 of the
Consumer Claims Act 1998 (no list has been established); and
remove clause 8 of the
current Regulation relating to disputes concerning commission charged by
licensed property agents, as this has been superseded by clause 1(b) of Schedule
1 to the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal Act 2001.
