Comment on proposed legislation
New South Wales’ fair trading laws are kept up to date and relevant through regular reviews that involve the community and other stakeholders. As circumstances change, new laws may be introduced or older ones repealed.
When new or amended legislation is proposed we seek the broadest possible comment. The list below shows current papers for comment. You can view or print a copy of current review papers from here or contact us to have a hard copy posted.
Review of the Holiday Parks (Long-term Casual Occupation) Act 2002 - comments due by 24 October 2008
The Holiday Parks (Long-term Casual Occupation) Act 2002 addresses the special circumstances that arise in holiday parks where families own their own van which they keep on a rented site in a park for casual or holiday use at various times throughout the year.
The Act spells out the rights and responsibilities of van owners and holiday park operators, and sets out a number of protections for consumers, including minimum notice periods for occupation fee increases and terminations. The Act also provides a dispute resolution system for when things go wrong.
The Act is being reviewed to determine whether its policy objectives remain valid, and whether the terms of the Act remain appropriate for securing those objectives.
Comments and submissions are invited by 24 October 2008 in any of the following ways:

Register to have your say on the Home Building Act
The Office of Fair Trading is currently rewriting the Home Building Act 1989.
The Act protects home owners doing building or renovation work by requiring builders and tradespeople to be licensed for the work that they do, and to have proper contracts and insurance in place for most jobs.
When draft legislation is released for public consultation, we would like as many people as possible to consider the proposed changes and give us feedback. If you would like us to let you know when the consultation is taking place, go to the Rewrite of the Home Building Act form and register your details.
