Access programs

Fair Trading conducts Community Access Programs (CAPS) in the Sydney metropolitan area and Regional Access Programs (RAPS) in regional areas, to promote its services and to inform consumers, traders and other Fair Trading customers of their rights and responsibilities.

These programs include visits to retailers and information stalls in shopping centres and libraries, as well as seminars to incorporated associations, schools, landlords, real estate agents, retail tenants, tradespeople, licensed builders and their partners, motor vehicle repairers and dealers and strata property owners.

Compliance activities also form an integral component of access programs with investigators visiting pawnbrokers and second hand dealers, travel agents, building sites, motor dealers and repairers and other retailers, conducting general and specific inspections.

Approximately 15 Programs are conducted across NSW each year.

Fair Trading Week

In November each year, Fair Trading runs a week-long campaign to raise awareness of fair trading issues in the community. Find out more about Fair Trading Week.
