Fair Trading Week
16–20 November 2009
Smart consumers pay less and save more!
In November each year, Fair Trading runs a week-long campaign to raise awareness of fair trading issues in the community. On the tenth anniversary of Fair Trading Week, this year’s theme poses the question: “Are you a smart consumer?”. The main message is that consumers can buy better and save money if they know their consumer rights and follow some simple rules.
Smart consumers:
-
don't fall for scams
-
know a good deal when they see one because they've shopped around
-
know their rights when a product they bought is faulty
-
keep their receipts and any correspondence or paperwork
-
know they can go to Fair Trading for help if they can't resolve a problem with a trader.
Are you a smart consumer?

As part of Fair Trading Week, special events are organised across NSW. Some of the events featured include a youth forum, business seminars and workshops, consumer information stands at shopping centres, open days at Fair Trading Centres, and many other activities across the State. There will also be a special focus in Wollongong, Erina, Uralla, Walcha and Terrigal, where we will be running regional access programs.
