CTTT Newcastle registry open day

15 January 2008

Acting Fair Trading Minister, Verity Firth, today invited the public to visit the Open Day at the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (CTTT) in Newcastle on Wednesday 23 January.

Ms Firth said anyone keen to learn more about the CTTT’s services should come to Level 1, 175 Scott Street between 11am and 1pm.

“In the past year, the CTTT received over 64,000 applications for hearing which means a large number of consumers and traders use our services and so knowing what to expect is vital,” said Ms Firth.

“The CTTT’s broad jurisdiction covers so many parts of our lives – retail transactions, motor vehicle purchase and repair, credit matters, agents’ fees, residential tenancies, home building, strata and community schemes, residential parks and retirement villages.

“You will be able to see how the CTTT’s online lodgment service operates, how conciliation can benefit parties in resolving consumer disputes and about what happens at a Tribunal hearing.

CTTT staff and Tribunal members will be there to chat and all visitors will be given an open day bag with stationery items and a copy of the ‘Get It Sorted’ DVD.

“23 January is part of the CTTT’s commitment to increasing accessibility to its dispute resolution services and letting the people of New South Wales learn in a hands-on way about its role and activities,” Ms Firth said.
