Online course makes CPD for builders easier

17 January 2008

Acting Fair Trading Minister, Verity Firth, today announced that Pointsbuild Pty Ltd, a professional development website for builders and pool builders, has received $45,000 under Fair Trading’s Home Building Grants Program.

Ms Firth said the Pointsbuild website offers courses in basic legal and financial training for builders and swimming pool builders.  With the grant they will be able to develop and promote it further.

“The Pointsbuild website is an excellent tool – it allows licensed builders and swimming pool builders to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points by participating in their online courses,” Ms Firth said.

Because the system is very flexible builders can access just one module or as many as they wish and are able to earn all their annual CPD points online.

“You can complete the relevant course modules when and where you want which will make life easier for all builders who must, by law, complete the modules in order to earn CPD points,” Ms Firth said.

“The Home Building Grants Program provides funding for educational, research and other programs which enhance outcomes for consumers of the home building industry’s services through raising industry standards and consumer awareness.

“Funding ongoing industry research and education helps to ensure the NSW residential building industry is up-to-date with the latest developments in the sector.”
