Unsafe toddler swings voluntarily recalled
4 February 2008
NSW Fair Trading Minister, Linda Burney, today alerted parents and carers to the national voluntary recall of a potentially dangerous swing set for toddlers.
Ms Burney said Copperart, trading as Homeart, has voluntarily recalled the Kings Sport Children’s moulded plastic swing marked SKU9611, after identifying that the safety straps attached to the swing may slip through the buckles resulting in the child falling out of the swing.
“There have been two reported cases of this happening, one in NSW and the other in Tasmania,” Ms Burney said.
“Approximately 2,500 of the swing sets were sold nationally in Homeart stores from September to December 2007.
“The plastic swing consists of a one piece seat, a front T bar, shoulder safety straps with buckles and a synthetic cord with metal hooks,” Ms Burney said.
“I urge consumers to stop using the swing immediately and return it to any Homeart store for a full refund or credit.”
Ms Burney said that Homeart has placed an advertisement in newspapers around Australia today and has also provided details on its website at www.homeart.com.au and on the Product Recalls Australia website.
