Manager appointed by Court to operate Auburn real estate agency

9 July 2008

Fair Trading Minister Linda Burney today welcomed the Supreme Court appointment of a manager/receiver to run the Auburn real estate agency, Parker & McCue Real Estate Pty Ltd.

Ms Burney said this follows last week’s urgent interim injunction of the Court to stop the agency and its operators, Mustafa, Nursen and Oktay Dalkic, from trading without a real estate agent’s licence.

“Fair Trading has been closely monitoring Parker & McCue since its licence expired. There were also complaints about the Dalkics’ management of rental bonds which have been investigated by the Office of Fair Trading.”

Richard James Porter of Moore Stephens has been appointed as the manager/receiver to manage the business. This will ensure that the interests of landlords, tenants, vendors and purchasers are protected and will not be further exposed as a result of this unlicensed operator.

“Any concerned clients of the company should call Mr Porter on 9890 1111 if they require assistance,” Ms Burney said.

“The court action became necessary because the company and the Dalkics continued to trade while unlicensed. Fair Trading has taken prompt action to minimise the risk to consumers in this successful court action.

“Fair Trading launched a comprehensive investigation, gathering evidence including surveillance footage to prove that Parker and McCue were ignoring the law.

“Today’s result demonstrates the effectiveness of the investigation and legal work undertaken by the Office of Fair Trading to protect the public from unlicensed traders.”
