Nowra Aboriginal community invited to consumer information day
16 July 2008
Fair Trading Minister Linda Burney today invited the Nowra Aboriginal community to attend an information session on Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal Services (CTTT).
The CTTT Aboriginal Outreach Program will be held from 10am until 2.30pm on 28 July at the Nowra Youth Centre, 132 Kinghorne St.
Ms Burney, who is attending the event, said the program will provide the opportunity for the local Aboriginal community to find out about the CTTT and how it can help them resolve consumer disputes.
“The event should forge a closer connection between CTTT and the community and I look forward to going along to show my support for such a worthwhile initiative.
“The staff of the CTTT is committed to providing accessible services to Aboriginal communities across NSW.
“The new Aboriginal Conciliator will be on hand with other staff throughout the day to speak with members of the community on a one-on-one basis about consumer issues.”
Ms Burney said a free sausage sizzle and information stalls will also be part of the day’s activities.
“I encourage all Aboriginal people in the Nowra area to come along and I look forward to meeting with the community.”
