Free information session for retirement villages
24 February 2010
Fair Trading Minister, Virginia Judge, is urging retirement village residents and operators in Goulburn to attend a free information session on new laws that will start on 1 March 2010.
Ms Judge said the Retirement Villages Regulation 2009 is the result of a thorough review process and extensive consultation with residents, industry organisations and the community.
‘‘The final set of rules is intended to improve transparency and accountability in retirement villages, and paves the way for a package of reforms to take effect in March,’’ she said.
The views of both retirement village residents and commercial and not-for-profit operators were vital to the development of the Regulation.
The free information sessions will give residents and operators an opportunity to discuss the changes and to find out how they will work.
Copies of the new laws can be downloaded from this website.
Ms Judge said the free seminar is being held at Goulburn Soldiers Club, 15 Market Street Goulburn on 26 February 2010.
It will run from 10.30am to 12 noon with morning tea and registration starting at 10am.
There will be a detailed presentation on the reforms, followed by time for questions.
Fair Trading staff will also be available after the presentation to assist individuals with problems or any questions they may have.
Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to Fair Trading on 02 9338 8947.
