Lismore Fair Trading officer wins award
20 May 2010
Fair Trading Minister Virginia Judge today congratulated Lismore Fair Trading officer Bronwyn Hurst for receiving a Fair Trading award for outstanding service to the local community.
Ms Judge said Ms Hurst first joined Fair Trading in 1994 and had displayed consistent dedication to consumer protection.
“Bronwyn’s commitment in helping the public and serving her local community is exemplary,” she said.
“She is recognised as a Fair Trading specialist, not just in the Lismore Fair Trading Centre, but across the northern region.
“Her home building and residential tenancy dispute resolution skills are renowned.
“Her commitment, flexibility and personal desire to excel and develop is a credit to her.
“She has received many customer testimonials over the years applauding her 'can do' attitude, quality of service and information and general professionalism.”
Bronwyn has an identical twin, Megan Gray, who also works at the Lismore Fair Trading Centre, which is often the cause of confusion and humour for clients.
Bronwyn said she loved working at Fair Trading as it gave her the opportunity to support people through difficult times.
“I really enjoy meeting new people and helping them with their problems,” she said.
“My mission is to make the world a better place for them.”
Bronwyn suffers from Multiple Sclerosis but the disease does not define her.
Her manager, Paul Murphy, said that despite some days being faced with immense discomfort, Bronwyn always maintains a positive attitude.
Bronwyn also volunteers with Friends of the Koalas in the Lismore/Goonellabah area.
