Godfreys turbo dust cleaner attachment recall

20 September 2010

Fair Trading Deputy Commissioner today warned the state’s consumers about the voluntary recall of a Godfreys turbo powered vacuum cleaner attachment, model number 31300479.

Mr Griffin said 38,961 of the Turbo Dust Interceptors had been sold through Godfreys retail outlets throughout Australia from January 2008 to July 2010.

“The powered vacuum cleaner attachment is being recalled by Godfreys because of a manufacturing defect in the internal working parts of the attachment,” he said.

“The defect could result in unstable internal pins being dislodged, posing a risk of electric shock, burns, or electrocution.”

Mr Griffin said consumers should stop using the product immediately.

“People should disconnect the Turbo Dust Interceptor from the hose of the vacuum cleaner and return the product to their nearest Godfreys store for a full refund,” he said.

“Once the cleaner attachment is removed, the vacuum cleaner can continue to be used without further risk.

“For further information, consumers can contact Godfreys on toll-free 1800 815 270, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.”

Mr Griffin said no injuries had been reported in NSW.

“However, I urge consumers to check serial numbers if they have one of these products,” he said.
