Free information session for Central Coast building partners

9 November 2010

Fair Trading Deputy Commissioner Steve Griffin is encouraging partners and family members of licensed builders and tradespeople on the Central Coast to attend a free information session about running a home building business.

Where: Gosford RSL Club

When: Tuesday 16 November from 10am – 12noon

Mr Griffin said many small and medium sized businesses were managed by partners or family members and there was a real need for practical assistance and support.

“This two-hour session is packed with information on a range of relevant building industry matters, including contract management, asset protection and dispute resolution,” he said.

“WorkCover NSW, Master Builders Association and NSW Industrial Relations will participate, along with experts in licensing and home warranty insurance.

“It also provides a great opportunity for local business people to network and share experiences.”

More than 300 people have attended similar information sessions throughout the year across the State with Gosford being the last stop on the 2010 program.

Fair Trading has received positive feedback from many participants, showing the sessions have made a real difference to many in the home building industry.

Participant comments have included: “Fantastic morning that gave us a wealth of information.” “We will be changing the way we run our business.” “Excellent coverage of relevant topics.” “Very informative particularly as my husband (licence holder) prefers to leave all areas of office work to me.”

Mr Griffin encouraged anyone who handles the administration for a licence holder or home building business to attend a session.

Two continuing professional development (CPD) points are available to each attendee.

Registration can be made on this website. View our information on Building Partners information sessions or call 13 36 79.
