Fair Trading - making a difference in the West
10 November 2010
Fair Trading Deputy Commissioner Steve Griffin today said NSW Fair Trading staff in Dubbo and Orange have been busy preparing for Fair Trading Week which runs from 15 to 19 November.
Mr Griffin said this year’s theme of Making a Difference aims to highlight the services and assistance available to the community.
“Fair Trading answers almost 1.2 million phone enquiries and 220,000 counter enquiries from all round the State each year,” he said.
“Whether you are in business, a consumer shopping for goods or services, or working in a trade, NSW Fair Trading is there to help you.
“An important part of Fair Trading’s work is dispensing information and advice, which is always just a phone call away or available on the website or by visiting an office.”
During Fair Trading Week, Dubbo will have staff at shopping centre displays in Orana Mall and Centro Shopping Centre and there will be a display in the Metro Plaza in Orange.
One of the highlights of Fair Trading Week, the annual Indigenous Family Fun Day, is on again at Victoria Park, Dubbo on Wednesday 17 November from 10.30am to 1pm.
Mr Griffin said Fair Trading staff would be on hand to answer questions and there will be plenty of fun for children, including a jumping castle, performances by Koori singers and dancers and Circus West showcasing their talent.
There will also be live radio broadcasts and a free BBQ lunch, with everyone welcome.
Mr Griffin encouraged all members of the community to find out what is planned for their area during Fair Trading Week and take advantage of the opportunity to visit with local Fair Trading staff.
