Tamworth building company in liquidation
19 January 2011
Tamworth building company Central Building Solutions Pty Ltd voluntarily appointed a liquidator on 13 January, after experiencing difficulty paying creditors.
Fair Trading Deputy Commissioner Steve Griffin today said Mr Alan Nicholls of Tamworth accountancy firm Nicholls & Co had been appointed as liquidator.
“Affected consumers, tradespeople and suppliers should contact him on 6766 9245,” he said.
Mr Griffin said Fair Trading had been advised by Mr Nicholls that the company currently had about eight consumers with homes under construction and another six who had supplied an initial deposit for preliminary work.
Consumers are affected in Narrabri, Gunnedah, Uralla, Temora, Tamworth and Walgett.
“Customers with homes already under construction should also contact their home warranty insurer to make a claim,” Mr Griffin said.
“Mr Nicholls is investigating the home warranty status of the six customers who have paid deposits, to determine their home warranty status.
“Mr Nicholls has also advised that he is working with the Director of the company to assign those customers to another builder so they do not suffer any loss.”
Mr Griffin said Mr Nicholls had advised that holders of home warranty insurance certificates issued after 1 July 2010 could download a claim form from www.homewarranty.nsw.gov.au.
“Holders of home warranty insurance certificates issued prior to 1 July 2010 can download a claim form directly from the relevant insurance company’s website,” he said.
Mr Griffin said Fair Trading would cancel the company’s building licence.
“We are writing to customers to advise them of their options and will continue to work with Mr Nicholls,” he said.
“Anyone who needs additional help should call NSW Fair Trading on 13 32 20.”
