Fair Trading in Southern Highlands next week

18 May 2011

Fair Trading Minister Anthony Roberts today said consumers and businesses in the Southern Highlands will benefit from compliance checks, trader education and free presentations by Fair Trading throughout next week.

Fair Trading’s Regional Access Program for the Southern Highlands will bring the agency’s staff and services into local communities from Monday to Thursday.

Mr Roberts and the Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward, said activities on offer included: information sessions for people running associations; training seminars for builders; presentations on money management; retail and residential tenancy seminars and information stands; and, seminars for motor dealers and repairers and real estate agents.

“Fair Trading staff will also meet community services staff from Wingecarribee Shire Council to discuss Fair Trading programs and how the agency can work more effectively with council networks to enhance the provision of consumer protection information,” Ms Goward said.

Ms Goward encouraged members of the local community to visit a Fair Trading information stall at Highlands Marketplace, Mittagong, on Wednesday 25 May from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

“Fair Trading inspectors will be checking compliance with relevant consumer protection laws at local businesses and checking licensing at motor dealers and repairers,” Minister Roberts said.
