Minister Roberts to visit Macksville and Nambucca Heads
22 July 2011
Fair Trading Minister Anthony Roberts will visit Macksville and Nambucca Heads next Tuesday 26 July, during a week long program of Fair Trading events.
The Deputy Premier and Member for Oxley, Andrew Stoner, will join Minister Roberts during the visit.
Mr Roberts said he was pleased to be returning to the North Coast so soon after recent visits to Tweed Heads, Ballina, Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
“Fair Trading Regional Access Programs bring Fair Trading services and support en masse into regional and remote locations,” he said.
“The programs are run on a regular basis around the state and involve local compliance checks, business inspections, education programs and promotion of consumer services.
The Minister and the Deputy Premier will attend a Revved Up information session at Macksville High School on Tuesday from 10am, where local high school students learn more about buying, financing and maintaining their first car.
They will then open a Consumer and Scams information session for Aboriginal Elders at the Macksville Senior Citizens Centre at 11am.
Minister Roberts will finish his visit at the Nambucca Valley Community Services Council Inc, where he will meet with staff and present the centre with annual funding of more than $12,000 for the Nambucca Valley No Interest Loan Scheme.
Mr Stoner welcomed Fair Trading’s outreach program and urged local consumers and business owners to learn more about the services and support offered by Fair Trading.
“Education is a key part of the program and Fair Trading staff will be out and about visiting local businesses and retailers, distributing publications on Fair Trading services and answering any questions,” he said.
“Fair Trading staff will also deliver Seniors Guides to Nambucca Valley Meals on Wheels and product safety information to local childcare centres.
“A number of free information sessions have also been planned on tenancy, home building and incorporated associations.”
