Minister Roberts promotes Fair Trading Building Expos
29 July 2011
A free NSW Fair Trading Home Building Expo for licensed contractors and their partners is being held on Tuesday 2 August, from 5 to 8pm, at the Tamworth Wests Diggers Club, Kable Avenue, Tamworth.
Fair Trading Minister Anthony Roberts is encouraging local builders and tradespeople and their partners to attend.
“All are welcome,” he said. “Refreshments will be provided.”
To register go to http://www.events.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ or call 13 36 79.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson welcomed Fair Trading to Tamworth saying the Expos provide practical support to regional builders and tradespeople.
“Fair Trading Expos help builders and other contractors learn more about business skills, green energy solutions, compliance with regulatory requirements, building contractual obligations, dispute resolution, business management, protecting assets, health and safety requirements, licensing issues and employment conditions,” he said.
“Licensed builders, tradespeople and their partners can talk one-on-one to industry experts and get practical business advice.”
NSW Fair Trading staff will be joined by representatives from WorkCover NSW and Long Service Corporation, as well as major industry associations, the Housing Industry Association (HIA) and the Master Builders Association (MBA).
Access will also be provided to private sector partners specialising in business management advice who can provide confidential advice to builders experiencing tough financial circumstances.
CPD points apply to licence holders and their business partners.
Minister Roberts said the Expos are proving very popular with more than 240 licensees and their partners attending a recent Sutherland Expo.
“Expos are being held on a regular basis around the State so I encourage all licensed builders, tradespeople and their partners to find out about an Expo nearest you,” he said.
Fair Trading Building Expos are planned for Hornsby, Wollongong, Batemans Bay, Queanbeyan, Penrith, Kingsford, Newcastle, Dee Why, Merrylands, Wyong and Windsor.
