Free Queanbeyan Fair Trading Building Expo - Wednesday 17 August
11 August 2011
A free NSW Fair Trading Home Building Expo for licensed contractors and their partners is being held on Wednesday 17 August, from 5 to 8pm, at the Queanbeyan Kangaroo Rugby League Football Club, corner Stuart Street and Richard Avenue, Queanbeyan.
Fair Trading Minister Anthony Roberts said the Expos are being held on a regular basis around the State and encouraged all licensed builders, tradespeople and their partners to visit their nearest event.
To register go to http://www.events.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ or call 13 36 79.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the Fair Trading Expos were making a real difference to NSW builders, tradespeople and their partners.
“Licensed builders, tradespeople and their partners can talk one-on-one to industry experts and get practical business advice,” he said.
Fair Trading Expos help builders and contractors learn more about business skills, green energy solutions, compliance with regulatory requirements, building contractual obligations, dispute resolution, business management, protecting assets, health and safety requirements, licensing issues and employment conditions.
Mr Barilaro encouraged all local builders, tradespeople and their partners to attend.
“All are welcome,” he said. “Refreshments will be provided.”
NSW Fair Trading staff will be joined by representatives from WorkCover NSW and Long Service Corporation, as well as major industry associations, the Housing Industry Association (HIA) and the Master Builders Association (MBA).
Private sector partners specialising in business management advice will also conduct a short presentation and provide confidential advice to builders experiencing tough financial circumstances.
CPD points apply to licence holders and their business partners.
Minister Roberts said the Expos are proving very popular with more than 770 licensees and their partners attending sessions so far this year.
Attendance to date: Port Macquarie – 103; Lismore – 173; Campbelltown – 180; Sutherland – 240; and Tamworth – 78.
Fair Trading Building Expos are planned for Penrith, Kingsford, Newcastle, Dee Why, Merrylands, Wyong and Windsor.
