Public warning: Do not deal with John Wolf

28 February 2013

NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rod Stowe has issued a warning to the public not to deal with John Wolf, also known as John Luppi, his companies Yacht Market Pty Ltd and The Boat Market Pty Ltd, and the websites www.theboatmarket.com.au and www.boatmarket.net.au.

Mr Stowe also warned people to be vigilant if they come across the web link www.theyachtmarket.com.au that seeks to give credence to Mr Wolf’s businesses by linking them to the legitimate website www.theyachtmarket.com.

Mr Wolf operates a boat brokering business, but does not have a licence to carry on the business of buying or selling second-hand goods, as required under the Pawnbrokers and Second-hand Dealers Act 1996.

Mr Stowe said there were grave concerns that Mr Wolf’s business practices through his two companies, the domain names and weblink have resulted in, and may continue to result in serious consumer detriment involving considerable sums of money.

“Mr Wolf is currently the subject of a joint investigation by NSW Fair Trading and the NSW Police Marine Area Command,” Mr Stowe said.

“We have moved to close down his websites, and I strongly urge everyone not to have any future business dealings with this person.”
