Prams and strollers

The new mandatory safety standard for prams and strollers was introduced on 1 July 2008. The Fair Trading Amendment (Prams and Strollers) Regulation 2008 prescribes minimum safety standards for the supply of prams and strollers in NSW.

The safety standard for prams and strollers must comply with provisions for the following:

  • safety restraints
  • brakes
  • tether straps
  • safety labelling
  • testing procedures.

Suppliers and manufacturers of prams and strollers in NSW are required, by law, to comply with the standard from 1 July 2008.
