Gas appliances
The Gas Supply (Gas Appliances) Regulation 2004 regulates gas appliances which use gas supplied from a gas network.
The Gas Supply (Gas Appliances) Regulation 2004 prohibits the sale of uncertified gas appliances. Under the Gas Supply (Safety Management) Regulation 2002 it is also an offence to connect an uncertified gas appliance.

Currently only the Australian Gas Association (AGA) is authorised to certify gas appliances. Suppliers of gas appliances and equipment should ensure all appliances they intend to sell carry an AGA 'Makers Warranty Badge' indicating compliance with appropriate standards.
Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) appliances and installations are regulated by WorkCover NSW.
Under the Home Building Act 1989 gas fitting work must be carried out by a gas fitter licensed by the Office of Fair Trading. Consumers should always ask a gas fitter to show their licence before they carry out the work.
