Under the Fair Trading Regulation 2007, helmets for pedal cyclists are required to comply with Australian / New Zealand Standard, AS/NZS 2063–1996 Pedal Cycle Helmets, or with the 1995 Standard for Protective Headgear for Use with Bicycles published by the US Snell Memorial Foundation. With exceptions for certain types of helmets, AS/NZS 2063 has requirements for construction, performance testing, marking and provision of instructions for use and care.
