Approved insurers
The Home Building Act 1989 requires that insurers providing home warranty insurance in NSW be approved by the Minister for Fair Trading. The Minister may approve an insurer and the type of insurance they can provide after consultation with the Home Warranty Insurance Scheme Board. The approval granted by the Minister may be unconditional or subject to conditions.
The development of standard conditions of approval for insurers to provide home warranty insurance was overseen by the Home Warranty Insurance Scheme Board and commenced on 1 September 2004.
The following insurers are approved to sell home warranty insurance for residential building work under the NSW Home Building Act 1989. For information on insurers that were previously approved to sell home warranty insurance, go to the Past approved insurers in NSW page.
