The old 25-point system 

CPD for builders and pool builders before 2008

The old 25-point CPD system was in place for builders and pool builders prior to 1 January 2008.

The differences between the requirements of the old 25-point and current 12-point CPD systems are explained in the table below.

Formal meetings or industry representative groups, associations, institutes or unions where minutes are taken and there is an attendance record

Must be interactive and have an identifiable learning outcome relating to 1 of the 8 topics listed above - 1 point per hour 

Trade nights
Building and construction industry trade nights, shows, industry briefings and exhibitions

 

2 points per hour - max 5 points

Must be interactive and have an identifiable learning outcome relating to 1 of the 8 topics listed above - 1 point per hour 

 

Conferences/seminars

2 points per hour

Must be interactive and have an identifiable learning outcome relating to 1 of the 8 topics listed above - 1 point per hour 

 

Short, non-accredited courses

Must be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation or approved by NSW Fair Trading - 2 points per hour

Must be delivered by any trainer, be interactive and have an identifiable learning outcome relating to 1 of the 8 topics listed above - 1 point per hour 

 

TAFE course
Fair Trading/TAFE course 6499 Building on your foundations; 6499A Module 1, Business essentials

 

25 points

Relates to CPD topic 6. Contracts - 1 point per hour

Apprentices/trainees
Mentoring persons employed under a formal training arrangement such as an apprenticeship or traineeship

 

10 points per apprentice/trainee, max 20 points

1 point for each person per year to a maximum of 4 points per year, including points claimed for Associates learning

Associates learning

6 points

Up to 4 points per year can be earned including any points claimed for mentoring an employee under a formal training arrangement

 

Current subscription to the BCA

5 points

Relates to CPD topic 3. Compliance, must be interactive and delivered as a course, workshop, trade session, forum or conference, either online, by CD-rom or as a face to face activity - 1 point per hour

 

Private research/study

1 point per hour, max 5 points 

Must have an identifiable learning outcome relating to 1 of the 8 topics listed above, be interactive and delivered as a course, workshop, trade session, forum or conference, either online, by CD-rom or as a face to face activity - 1 point per hour

 

Any first aid course

5 points per year 

Must have an identifiable learning outcome relating to 1 of the 8 topics listed above - 1 point per hour for non-accredited learning, 2 points per hour for assessed learning delivered under from a training package

 

High school students
Mentoring high school, university or full time vocational college students through work experience
