Dry plastering 

For licensing purposes the work class of dry plastering means the internal installation of rigid building sheeting/boards made of a core of gypsum plaster set between and bonded to outer covers of cardboard.

Dry plastering includes installation of fibrous plaster sheeting/boards or fibrous cement sheeting/boards, cornice, false and suspended ceilings (not including completed work that provides structural support). It does not include any external cladding works which is considered to be aligned with the carpentry and joinery trade.


(1) Completion of CPC31211 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining


(2) completion of any of the following qualifications:

  • CPC31208 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining or
  • BCG31203 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining or
  • BCG30298 Certificate III in General Construction (Wall and Ceiling Lining) TAFE course #8062 or
  • Qualification 11764 Certificate III in Plastering, Fibrous and Plasterboard - Trade TAFE course #2153 or
  • Certificate III in Fibrous Plaster and Plasterboard – Trade TAFE course #0115

Previous licence holders

If you have ever held a licence in the current prescribed classes (Home Building Regulation 2014, clauses 13 and 14, excluding clause 13(a)(ii)) and you apply for a new licence, your previous licence will be accepted in lieu of the current qualification requirements.
