Erection of prefabricated metal framed home additions and structures 

Work involved in the erection of pre-fabricated metal-framed home additions and structures comprising decks, patios, gazebos, awnings, porches, verandahs, pergolas, screened or glass enclosures, modular rooms, carports, garages, workshops, sheds and other similar additions and structures, including any residential building work incidental to the erection of such additions or structures.

A contract for the erection of prefabricated metal framed home additions and structures can include any specialist work that is integral to the overall work, but such work must be carried out by the holder of an endorsed contractor licence or qualified supervisor certificate in the relevant category of specialist work.

NOTE: The licence class ‘Erection of prefabricated metal framed home additions and structure’ does NOT include the erection of pre-fabricated secondary dwellings eg, granny flats. Secondary dwelling construction is only within the licence class Building.

Qualifications

(1) Completion of the following units of competency:

  1. CPCCOHS1011A/ CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry; and
  2. CPCCCM1012A/ CPCCCM1002A Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry; and
  3. CPCCCM1013A/ CPCCCM1003A Plan and organise work; and
  4. PCCCM1014A/ CPCCCM1004A Conduct workplace communication; and
  5. CPCCCM1015A/ CPCCCM1005A Carry out measurements and calculations; and
  6. CPCCCM2001A Read and interpret plans specifications; and
  7. CPCPRF3023A/ CPCPRF3013A/ CPCPRF3003A Fabricate and install external flashings; and
  8. CPCCCM1011A/ CPCCCM1001A Undertake basic estimation and costing; and
  9. CPCPCM3021A/ CPCPCM3011A/ CPCPCM3001A Flash penetrations through roofs and walls; and
  10. either:
    (i)  CPCCCM2005A or B Use construction tools and equipment; or
    (ii) MEM18001C — Hand Tools and MEM18002B — Use power tools/hand held operations and MEM05005B — Carry out mechanical cutting; and
  11. CPCCBC4008A/ CPCCBC4008B Conduct on-site supervision of the building and construction projects; and
  12. either:
    (i)  BSBCMN209A Provide information to clients; or
    (ii) BSBCUS201/ BSBCUS201A or B Deliver a service to customers; and
  13. CPCCCA3002A Carry out setting out; and
  14. CPCPCM2048A/ CPCPCM2028A/ CPCPCM2008A Cut and join sheet metal; and
  15. CPCPRF2022A/ CPCPRF2012A/ CPCPRF2002A Select and install roof sheeting and wall cladding; and
  16. CPCCCO2013A/ CPCCCO2003A Carry out concreting to simple forms; and
  17. CPCCCA3010A Install and replace windows and doors; and
  18. either:
    (i)  BSBSMB405 BSBSMB405A/ BSBSMB405B Monitor and manage business operations; or
    (ii) BSBMB406, BSBSMB406A Manage small business finances;

OR

(2) Completion of the following units of competency:

  1. BCGCM1001B Follow OH&S policies and procedures; and
  2. BCGCM1002B Work effectively in the general construction industry; and
  3. BCGCM1003B Plan and organise work; and
  4. BCGCM1004B Conduct workplace communication; and
  5. BCGCM1005B Carry out measurements and calculations; and
  6. BCGCM2001B Read and interpret plans and specifications; and
  7. BCPRF3003A Fabricate and install external flashings; and
  8. BCGVE1004B Undertake basic estimation and costing; and
  9. BCPCM3001A Flash penetrations through roofs and walls; and
  10. BCGCM2005B Use construction tools; and
  11. either:
    (i)  BCGBC4008A Conduct on-site supervision of the building and construction project; or
    (ii) ABC082 Building Site Supervision; and
  12. BSBCMN209A Provide information to clients; and
  13. BCGCA3002B Carry out setting out; and
  14. BCGVE2001B Produce construction drawings; and
  15. BCPCM2008A Cut and join sheet metal; and
  16. BCPRF2002A Select and install roof sheeting and wall cladding; and
  17. BCGCO2003B Carry out concreting to simple forms; and
  18. BCGCA3010B Install and replace windows and doors; and
  19. BSBSBM405A Monitor and manage business operations.

Previous licence and supervisor certificate holders

Reissue of expired unconditioned licences and supervisor certificates

If you have ever held a licence or supervisor certificate in the current prescribed categories (Home Building Regulation 2014, clauses 13 and 14, excluding clause 13(a)(ii)) that was not subject to restrictions or conditions and you apply for a new licence or supervisor certificate, your previous licence or certificate will be accepted in lieu of the current qualification requirements.

Reissue of expired licences and supervisor certificates held in the last five (5) years that were subject to conditions or restrictions

If you have held a licence or supervisor certificate in the last five (5) years that was subject to restrictions or conditions in the prescribed categories (Home Building Regulation 2014, clauses 13 and 14, excluding clause 13(a)(ii)), we will assess your application and reissue you a licence or certificate that reflects the scope of work that your licence or certificate covered. This may include being subject to conditions or restrictions.
