Plumbers and drainers 



The MyInspections gateway allows users to pay fees and submit documents related to plumbing and drainage work, and applies to all on site plumbing and drainage work in the areas where Fair Trading conducts inspections in the Sydney and Newcastle regions only.

To access the MyInspections Gateway the user must first register, and is then able to:

  • submit an audit inspection application (pay for an audit inspection)
  • correct an audit inspection application
  • submit or correct a performance solution application (please note only property details can be corrected)
  • submit or correct a Notice of Work (NoW)
  • submit a Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
  • submit a completed Sewer Service Diagram (SSD).

Plumbing reforms 2012

Plumbing reforms in 2012 were part of a NSW Government initiative to make standard setting, on-site regulation and licensing in NSW more effective and consistent.

As part of the plumbing regulatory framework, Fair Trading licenses plumbers and drainers under the Home Building Act 1989. All plumbing and drainage work must be completed by a person who holds a licence, qualified supervisor certificate or tradesperson certificate.

An on-site regulation system also monitors NSW plumbing and drainage work in line with technical standards and regulations.
