The final report detailing the outcome of the review was tabled in Parliament on 6 August 2020 by the Minister.

Key recommendations include:

  • Removing the requirement for primary wholesalers to register with NSW Fair Trading and report volumes of petrol sold
  • Reducing the frequency of reporting requirements from quarterly periods to every six months
  • Digitising the exemption processes that are not currently online
  • Introducing greater transparency around decisions to grant volume fuel retailers exemptions from the Act
  • Creating a new consumer awareness campaign on the benefits of ethanol-blended fuel
