Have your say

What is this about?

In New South Wales, the Biofuels Act 2007 and the Biofuels Regulation (No 2) 2016 apply to the sale of biofuels, such as E10. The objective of the Act and Regulation is to foster a viable and dynamic biofuels industry which reduces consumers’ dependence on fossil fuels and NSW’s reliance on imported petrol.

The NSW Government is now reviewing the Act and Regulation to ensure that their objectives are still valid, and the requirements of the Act and Regulation are still appropriate.

What’s happened so far?

As part of the review process, a discussion paper has been released to gain feedback on the regulation of biofuels in NSW. This discussion paper provides an opportunity for interested parties in NSW to express their views or concerns. The NSW Government wants to hear from motorists, fuel retailers and wholesalers, the petroleum and biofuels industries, people who work in the motor industry, and members of the public.

Your feedback is vital in ensuring the Biofuels Act continues to meet the needs of the community.

Next steps

You are invited to read the discussion paper and provide comments by 5pm on Tuesday 29 October 2019.

Once the consultation period has closed, all comments and submissions will be carefully considered. A report on the review and its findings will be submitted to the Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation. The final report will then be tabled in each House of Parliament.
