Have your say
The 2014 Lacrosse building fire in Melbourne and the tragic Grenfell fire in London in June 2017 have highlighted the fire safety risks arising from the non-compliant use of potentially hazardous aluminium cladding on buildings.
The Senior Officers Group (SOG) is a strategic policy advisory group made up of senior building and construction polcy officers from each jurisdiction and the Commonwealth. SOG has developed four options for a permanent new labelling system for aluminium composite panel (ACP) products to prevent the use of non-compliant building product substitution.
The four options are:
- An information plate permanently attached to a high-rise building
- A permanently etched or stamped motif or permanent label on an external facing façade panel
- Use of covert data marking technology
- Maturation of current reviews and reforms
These options are discussed in a discussion paper.
The SOG welcomes submissions from all interested stakeholders on the proposed options.
