Mutual recognition for drivers

Interstate applicants are only eligible to apply for a Tow Truck Driver Certificate in NSW under mutual recognition, provided they hold a comparable licence or registration in another state or territory.

You must provide all applicable documentation and pay the relevant fee. Applications for mutual recognition must be complete at the time of receipt. Your application will be returned to you if it is not complete.

All NSW driver certificates issued are subject to the provisions of the Tow Truck Industry Act 1998 (the Act) and, in the case of ‘Mutual Recognition Registration’ applications, subject also to the provisions of mutual recognition legislation. Once issued, even under mutual recognition legislation, a driver certificate becomes subject to the provisions of the Act.

For questions on mutual recognition applications, call the Licensing team on 1300 131 134 and select option 1.
