Metropolitan plumbing and drainage inspections

Plumbing and drainage inspections conducted by Fair Trading

Fair Trading conduct an audit-based system for inspecting plumbing and drainage work in operation in Sydney, the Illawarra, Blue Mountains, Newcastle and Hunter where properties are connected to:

  • Sydney Water sewer infrastructure
  • Hunter Water sewer infrastructure and
  • Altogether Group sewer infrastructure in Pitt Town, Box Hill / The Gables, and Cooranbong.

The inspection system allows for only a portion of the plumbing and drainage work to be inspected rather than all of it. Plumbers and drainers are required to book an audit inspection but they will not know if the work has been selected for an inspection until the appointment time.

For more information see:

Plumbing and Drainage Inspections conducted by Local Council delegates

  • Windsor and some surrounding areas in Hawkesbury City Council,
  • North Rothbury/Huntlee in Cessnock City Council, and
