Faulty roof repair

Ray hired a roofer to put on a new roof, fascia board and a gutter guard but the work was very unsatisfactory. The roof leaked and the gutter guard lifted, damaging the ceiling of the house.

After numerous attempts, Ray was unable to reach an agreement with the roofer who refused to come back and fix the roof. So Ray felt he was forced to contact Fair Trading.

NSW Fair Trading took on the case and contacted the builder on Ray’s behalf, requesting the roofer to fix the job to Ray’s satisfaction. The roofer then came back and fixed the roof properly.

“If it hadn’t been for Fair Trading I wouldn't have had sorted it out at all. I would have had to bring another tradesman in to fix it. They were excellent and they were polite, they were firm and I’m very happy with them.”
