Issue
Recent gas audit inspections of Class 1 and 2 buildings carried out by Fair Trading’s Gas Compliance Unit have identified a failure to ensure Identification of the proprietary piping system that is installed.
All gas installations in NSW must comply with the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017 with any installation not conforming to AS/NZS 5601.1:2022 considered non-compliant.

4.5.4 – Identification of proprietary piping systems
The maker or trade name of the proprietary system shall be identified on a durable label attached adjacent to the gas meter, LP Gas tank, cylinder(s) or any other supply point.
Requirements:
When a proprietary piping system (multilayer gas piping system) is used in a gas installation, the maker or trade name of the proprietary system shall be identified on a durable label attached adjacent to the gas meter, LP Gas tank, cylinder(s) or any other supply point.
