Statement by NSW Fair Trading Commissioner, Natasha Mann
- Consumer protection regulators are working together in relation to this trader. Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) is leading the investigation into Home Appliances Plus on behalf of consumer protection agencies across Australia.
- On 28 September 2022 the Consumer Protection agency in WA issued a public warning for consumers about dealing with Steel & Water Pty Ltd, trading as Home Appliances Plus (attached).
- NSW Fair Trading is working with CAV, alongside interstate consumer protection regulators, to maintain a national, coordinated approach to the trader’s conduct. The public warning issued by WA is being shared on social media with NSW consumers.
- NSW Fair Trading encourages all consumers experiencing problems with delivery to seek a chargeback from their credit card provider in the first instance. If a chargeback is not available or provided, NSW consumers should lodge a complaint with NSW Fair Trading.
